Greetings Spanking Enthusiasts,
This column is about one of my favorite subjects, books. Books take some time to put together
and are costly to produce, so when they come out, it is something of an event to interested readers.
The Big Butt Book by Dian Hanson just published by Taschen is a fabulous treat for bottom lovers
world wide.
The cover of the book is clear plastic, but when you remove it, the panties come off the cover girl.
This over sized (12” x 11.8” x 1.5”) coffee table picture book of bare bottomed beauties from the
second half of the 20th century will delight the connoisseur of callyphyginous cheesecake. Picture
a book that's almost too heavy to lift, crammed with mostly nude belles, photographed from the
rear, to expose every aspect of the female backside.
Photos like the one below fill this marvelous book. To me, this looks like it came from the Irving
Klaw studios. The Tashen archives must be immense.
There are famous bottom models interviewed, a chapter devoted to the underground comics artist,
R. Crumb (with his well known big booty fixation), and alluring photography of posteriors of every
shape and color, including pink, in the Shadow Lane section.
Shadow Lane was given sixteen pages in the book and mine is the last interview. All the photos are vintage, from
our pre-digital days. My interview is very frank (how did Ms. Hanson get all of that out of me?) and translated into
French and German, as well as shown in English.
It was an honor to be featured in a book like this and to be allowed to express the feelings of a female spanking
enthusiast who was born in the middle of the 20th century. The interview was transcribed from a long conversation
I had with Dian Hanson, the sharp and experienced former editor of Leg World and Puritan Magazine. She knew
what kind of questions to ask and then just wrote up my answers in the form of a very casual, off the cuff essay.
Ms. Hanson called me about six months ago to begin my part of the book and going through our photo files to get
her just the right photos for reproduction took upwards of a month. There was a lot to go through and it was all in
negative or slide form. Digital photos of the quality that is perfectly adequate for the internet and our own in-house
printing, is not acceptable for a high grade press like Tashen and only film photography was used in our spread.
Which is why it is more of a vintage retrospective of our earlier years. People have been asking us to put out a
coffee table book based on vintage Shadow Lane material for some time. This book includes a major section
devoted to Shadow Lane plus 350 pages more of backside erotica. What a combo for the dual spanking and
bottom enthusiast!

When I first moved to Vegas I suffered from writers' block for the first three years. I had just handed
in Shadow Lane 9 and it didn't seem like I'd ever even start Shadow Lane 10, no less finish it. Plus, half
of my novels had gone out of print, Blue Moon had gone under and every new publisher I hooked up
with to possibly reprint my out-of-print titles, promptly also went out of business. Then CCB Publishing
got in touch with me and offered to bring all my books back into print, with color covers.
I scrambled to find my new publisher all the images he would need to bring out a matched set of my
books, all with original Tarsis cover art. One by one, my books began coming back into print, until all
nine were available at once, for the first time ever.
My new publisher was so good, fast, reliable and encouraging that I found myself returning to my files
and realizing I had already written at least half of Shadow Lane 10. I applied myself and finished it a few
months ago and now it is also in print. This is the tenth volume of a series I began in 1986, but in the
Random Point universe of the books, only seven years have passed.
This is my favorite book of the series so far. It contains lots of fun stuff, such a daughter Hugo never
knew he had showing up in Random Point and Hugo's serious proposal of marriage to Laura. The book
quickly becomes the story of Amanda Sands, an engaging new character who is determined to carry the
banner of spanking enthusiast proudly into the 21st century. Amanda does get spanked, and often, but this
doesn't stop her from initiating battle after battle of the sexes with the various boys and men she selects to
lavish her imaginative attentions and boundless affections on.
This is the first Shadow Lane novel that I conceived as a whole, rather than a string of loosely knit stories.
And for anyone who has been following the series from the start, the conclusion will feel just right!
